The bottleneck is the brief.

The fastest way to find a real problem is to notice the one slowing you down.

Someone said to me once that being an entrepreneur is really just unblocking bottlenecks. Every day, a new one. I think about that constantly now.
‍

Because here is what I have noticed lately.
‍

Some of the most useful things we have built were not built for a market or a pitch or a roadmap. They were built because something was driving us a bit mad.
‍

A task we kept redoing. A handover that kept breaking in the same place. An hour that had no business being an hour.
‍

So we built a few small tools to get rid of them. They still need tweaking. But they have already saved us hours. And you can feel it - there is something good in there.
‍

The bit I keep turning over is this.
‍

That bottleneck was never just ours.
‍

The entrepreneurs coming up right now are walking straight into the same walls we did. The same repeated work. The same thing that takes five minutes once you know how and half a day when you don't. So when we fix it for ourselves, more often than not, we are fixing it for them too. We just got there first.
‍

That is the part I find quietly motivating.
‍

You start by helping yourself - because your own friction is the most honest research you will ever get. You cannot fake it or focus-group it. You feel it every single day until you do something about it.
‍

And then the thing you made to save yourself turns out to be the thing the next person needed.
‍

It is not a grand plan. It is just a chain. You help yourself, that helps someone like you, they go and help someone like them. And on it goes.
‍

The next stretch for us is finding out where the next bottlenecks are. There will be plenty. There always are.
‍

But I have stopped seeing that as the annoying part.
‍

The bottleneck is not the thing in the way.
‍

It is the brief.
